POEM-St Jude Workshop for Methodologies in Cancer Research and Registries

- Junior Pediatric Oncologists or Subspecialists involved in childhood cancer (surgery, radiation oncology, pathology, etc.…)
- Nursing specialists interested in clinical research
- Research Assistants or Associates



At the end of this workshop, participants should be able to:

- Understand basic concepts of research and its methodologies
- Identify appropriate research topics
- Select and define appropriate research parameters and test methodologies
- Organize and conduct research in a more appropriate manner
- Understand the basics of writing a research proposal, report, or article/paper



- Interest in learning basics of research methodologies
- Applicants must provide a short abstract for a research proposal, on which they will work through the 2-day workshop 


Workshop Format:

- Lectures
- Small group hands-on sessions
- Discussion sessions with experts


This 2-day workshop includes the following topics:

- Clinical studies & methodologies
- Cancer Data Registries
- Basic and Advanced Statistics 
- Research Ethics & Governance
- Writing and Publishing


• Places are limited. Approvals are on first come basis.
• Preference will be given to early- and mid-career researchers from POEM region, who have submitted a clear and impactful abstract.
• Financial support will be available and limited for those registrants with best proposals.
